Almost five years after their debut album, Songs About Jane, which raked in $2.7 million copies in 2004, Maroon 5 has finally came up with thier second album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.
It is no doubt that fans of Maroon 5 have indeed been waiting for this album for a very long time (me included). And of course, we were not left disappointed.
With the album’s first hit single Makes Me Wonder playing around in the radio airwaves weeks before the album was released, this had, without a doubt, contributed to its 429,484 copies being sold on the first week.
Anyway, the tunes provided to us were performed by no other than the lead-singer of the band, Adam Levine who has gained the reputation of the “Face of Maroon 5″. They dish out song after song with blasting energy which is – If I may well put, catchy to dance to.
Songs like Little of Your Time, If I Never See Your Face Again, Wake Up Call, Can’t Stop and of course, Makes Me Wonder will keep you dancing the weekend away. Or at least, tapping your feet to every beat you can tap your toes to.
For those who love the slow numbers, don’t feel left out, hits like Nothing Lasts Forever, Goodnight Goodnight and Back At Your Door will evoke those hidden emotions which we all hide deep in our broken and lonely hearts.
Arguably, many people may find this album very much similiar to Songs About Jane which offered the profanity of broken relationships, love which never worked out and the like. My only rebuke to that is that this album takes it a step further. A sequel to the previous album. The fact that it’s much more deep and heck, a bit more dark is what makes this album all-appealing. The word retro may also be found in this album’s descriptive vocabulary.
A definite must to add to your CD shelves!
